Dear Fellow Motorcyclist,
No doubt, you have probably heard about the Barber Vintage
Celebration that will be held at the beautiful Barber
Motorsports Park in Birmingham Alabama October 20 through
22. We are pleased to have been invited to be part of the
event with a classic motorcycle auction that will be very
different from other events.
First, let me tell you about the park itself. The setting is
like a beautiful national park with the roadcourse winding
through the green hills that are tastefully landscaped along
with some amazing artwork. The museum sits by the track’s
edge and will take your breath away. You will see
motorcycles that you have never seen before.
AHRMA will be running a full racing program both on the
roadcourse and in the dirt. There will be a swap meet and
show as well. The auction will take place right inside the
museum where you can look up and see the open center as it
winds up the five floors of amazing motorcycles on display.
Food and drink will be available right there during the
sale.
Instead of pushing the bikes around, we will have each one
displayed on a large screen above the podium as we sell it.
The auction bikes will be on display and available for you
to look at during the entire auction, so if you don’t win
lot 23, you can go take a closer look at lot 83. There will
be plenty of parking, even for your big trailers and room
for loading. This will be as “hassle free” as you will find.
The antique and classic motorcycle market has never been
better as we have been getting record prices all year as the
good motorcycles keep getting harder to find. We have a
great collection of “No Reserve” bikes already consigned and
we invite you to consign your antique or classic motorcycle
as well. All of our registered buyers and sellers will be
invited to an early viewing reception with John Surtees,
George Barber and his great crew on Friday night. The folks
at Barber are great hosts and we are confident that everyone
will love this event.

We will be at the Barber Vintage Festival in Birmingham
Alabama October 20-22 and will host an auction right in the

 Recently
discovered after seventy years of storage, this 1913 Flying
Merkel retains eighty five percent of its original orange
finish, and is correct and detailed in every respect. Still
visible is the period New York State registration number
hand lettered on the rear fender.
The machine was disassembled for inspection and it was
determined that it had stopped running because of a stuck
valve. Valves were removed, lapped, and replaced. The
bottom end and flywheel bearings show no wear. The bores
are smooth and have little taper. The cams and followers
are not worn. Wheel bearings were packed with grease,
control cables freed and lubricated, the gas, oil tank and
carburetor cleaned, everything put into adjustment; the bike
now runs and rides again. The only replaced parts are tires
and tubes, spark plugs, magneto wires, chains and cover.
There are few original survivors of this scarce marque.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire an original finish,
high quality v-twin motorcycle running, and eligible for
touring in the pre-sixteen class.
